About
Andres grew up as an immigrant with no knowledge of the English language and often found himself feeling lost and even, at points, alienated from his peers. This changed when he had his first math class. Andres recalled recognizing the numbers and simple orders of operations as these would translate the same in both English and Spanish.
As he matured, his curiosity about disparities in society grew. Andres often questioned why some individuals faced daily struggles for basic necessities while others enjoyed abundance. This curiosity, alongside his passion for mathematics, led him to explore statistics as a tool for understanding and addressing social inequalities. His interests only grew once he began to study in college and took his first Introduction to Statistics course. He began to realize the application of probability and statistics to our real world, which interested Andres in doing more research in this field.
