About
Background:
Eva grew up in Virginia Beach, VA, experiencing adversities and neglect in adolescence that shaped her perspective about childhood trauma and maltreatment. This has given her a uniquely empathic worldview interwoven with a passion to contribute meaningfully to social justice initiatives and positive social impacts.
Research Interests:
Eva's research interests are primarily cultivated in intersectional feminist frameworks by exploring the psychological impacts of childhood trauma, shame, and gender bias and how these affect life outcomes. Eva is particularly concerned with how these conditions can create an internalized sense of shame, significantly influencing educational experiences, performance, and outcomes.
Current Research:
Eva is currently working with Dr. Matthew Callahan and colleagues to understand the psychological effects of sexual harassment experiences for undergraduates, faculty, and staff in the CSU system and conducting trauma-informed qualitative research to establish how these situations influence actions after the experience and reporting procedures of Title IX.
