About
Background:
Sam was raised in Ventura, CA, in a single-parent household. While his mother was at work, he was able to find the time to research many interests through books and the internet, from music to psychology to the hard sciences. Looking up to his mother's resilience and pursuit of education, he has long been determined to pursue a Master’s degree or higher. These experiences have influenced his commitment to academia and research in the field of biology, virology, and genetics, specifically, with an interest in the mechanisms of zoonotic transmission.
Research Interests:
Sam is interested in research involving virology, immunology, and genetics. He hopes to explore viral evolution, host cell interaction and viral transmission. This work is important in understanding how diseases emerge and spread.
